Jumping Off the Cliff

Here’s the thing about me; try as I might, I have a type-A personality.  Spontaneity and general risk-taking do not come naturally to me.  This penchant for order and structure has certainly served me well throughout my life and I came to accept my place in the world as a rule-follower long ago.  I created foodie-girl in 2011 with the outward objective of learning to cook.  That was my story and it was mostly true.  At the heart of my new-found hobby, however, was a deep-seated need to push myself to uncomfortable corners.  As much as I rejected the notion, I knew I had to challenge myself. That was when foodie-girl became so much more than a simple blog for me.  It was an outlet I learned to embrace, a tool for expression and self-discovery.  It has led to so much more.

Admittedly, it’s been some time since I have posted on this site.  To my sweet, kind and generous followers, my sincerest apologies.  I haven’t disappeared and certainly haven’t abandoned my passion for cooking, writing, traveling and the like.  As a matter of fact, I’ve been working harder than ever before, slowly but surely building a nugget of a career, one article and one recipe at a time.

I’ve been looking out over the edge of a great expanse of potential and unknown opportunity for some time now, the type-A angel on my shoulder whispering gently, warning me to be cautious, to not push myself too far for fear of falling.  Despite my toe-the-line demeanor, I have always been a firm believer in the adage ‘you only live once.’  I’ve come to see the truth in this line of thinking this year more than ever.  With that in my heart I’m taking a leap, leaving my 50+ hour per week career in pursuit of living my dream, of making the most of life, while I have it.  I’m terrified.  I’m conflicted.  I’m so incredibly excited!  My website is going under a full redevelopment over the next month and I’ll be back with new recipes, travel tales and cocktail tips in the near future.  I hope you’ll join me on this new road.  If nothing else, it is sure to be delicious!  And a special thanks to Z, for taking the jump with me.  I can’t wait to see where we land!
